This could be interesting. And no, you can’t put yourself down.
I’m unsure on mine. The pink Borg bathroom scale above was made in the 50's so it’s definitely a contende r. Sure, it’s a bit worn, but it works just fine for my purposes. Doesn’t need to be accurate, as I’m uninterested in weight. I just need a way to track the CHANGE in weight. So, old pink scale. Maybe someday I’ll clean it up, but probably not.
Contender number two! Copper and bake lite rotary dial phone. No clue where this came from , I’ve had it for years. I seem to recall that it was Dutch... So... 40's maybe? Da mn thing weighs almost twenty pounds. They don’t build ‘em like they used to!

Easily one of my Violins. The full size one I use is *probably* from the early 1930's judging by the tag inside it (Great Grandfather purchased it). The other is a smaller size made by an apprentice, and I have no clue when it’s from. Probably also early 1900's.

Otherwise I’d have to like... the house... which is from 1918.

If I can’t count the bones of the house (50's), there’s an old 8mm (yes 8mm, not even Super 8) projector hanging around. Heavy as. Still works though afaik.
Also there’s a WW2 era army knife somewhere around, but it isn’t *technically* kept in the house, but in a toolbox in one of our vehicles.

Like 95% better. As bad as it still seems right now from the news, it’s easy to forget that things like casual anti-Semitism was still alive and basically fully accepted in the US, even right after the Holocaust.
Today at least
we have discussions like “Is it still okay to say ‘Hispanic’ or is ‘Latino’ preferred?” Not very long ago, that wasn’t even a discussion. It was far uglier.

Other than me? I would have to say this book, which belonged to my grandfather. He was a Latin scholar and newspaper editor, but also very widely educated in just about anything in the liberal arts. M y grandmother was a widely respected birder and naturalist. This is the second volume of Johnson’s Natural History, published in 1872. I have no idea if it’s worth anything, but it is a very handsome book, and I would bet that it fetched a fair price back in the day.

Oldest functional thing: My full-size bed and dresser are from around 1920 . The mattress and box spring are much newer, being replaced most recently maybe seven or eight years ago. My great grand parents probably ordered it from the S ears catalog, where it was shipped to Dix, NE via D enver. It was originally a three piece set with a night stand, but that the stand was either gotten rid of or given to someone else in the family at some point in the 80's . It’s got far more scratches than I would prefer, but it is made from white mahogany with the original finish still on it . It has been my bed since I was five.
Oldest thing: I’ve got a pottery sherd (was the spot where a handle attached to a pot). It’s El Paso brown, probably from around 1000-1200 AD- ish.

from what I overheard, they literally just assembled that engine this morning and installed it in the afternoon, and this was the first test fire. the boats will be running here and there this weekend (four vintage hydros, Allison or Rolls-Merlin powered) I’ll try to get a vid of them out on the water.
oh, and as far as that piston goes, we’re both right. the webbing was implemented to both improve piston cooling, and reduce weight while maintaining strength of the piston crown.
